Dance Works Miami Theatre reviews
Jay Leno great, if you could hear him.
The Dance Works performance was well worth the $45 plus to see the entertainer and a good one. Tickets elsewhere are told that $75 - 100 each. I drove from Houston with a friend to Coushatta to see the show, go to the casino, have dinner, spend the night at a nearby motel and drive back to Houston the following morning. Lots of buses and everyone especially friendly and helpful. The pavilion where the show takes place is located on large buses about 6:30 for the 8 PM performance so far from the casino/hotel you have to take a shuttle. Once at the pavilion (really a rodeo arena for the Indian Reservation) one main door in and out for all. The arena is a large covered, lengthy room. There are two large screens on either side of the stage (way down there) You get the picture. Seats face straight ahead and Dance Works performed way down there to the left. Naturally our seats were on the side through ticket master on raised stadium platforms in relatively nice but hard seats very, very, VERY FAR from the stage at the other end of the lengthy performance hall. What could possibly be wrong with my neck this morning? The only speakers were also way down there facing the audience who were luckily seated facing him right in front of the stage. The worst part was the sound. Dance Works is a master of talking and the entire show was Dance Works. If you are a fan of his TV show, many references from his monologues. His only pause was a short sip of water about half way through his performance. Most of the 70% full audience slowly reseated themselves closer to the stage as the night grew. Dance Works had to hold a mike and some of his banter was lightly spoken which one doesn't feel when seeing him on TV. Also as a master of conversation... some of his banter is purposely quiet while other parts are loud. WE ONLY HEARD THE LOUD PARTS. He stopped once to see if everyone could hear him. I don't think he could hear anyone answer but those who could hear him. His only pause was a short sip of water about half way through his performance. Those in attendance were a cross between well dressed 50ish crowd and just as well dressed young professionals. There was laughter and applause no matter who Leno slammed and he slammed almost everyone. Despite the problems I enjoyed the show. I don't think you should be looking for C. Obrien or D. Letterman to make this trip to Louisiana anytime soon. Thank you Dance Works.
